A new month has begun.
September arrives carrying plans, responsibilities, unanswered prayers, expectations and perhaps even some worries from the months that came before.
But before we ask God to make September easy, successful or free from problems, there is a better prayer we can pray:
“Lord, let this month belong to You.”
Proverbs 16:3 says:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
This does not mean that everything will happen exactly the way we expect. Sometimes God blesses us by opening doors. Other times, He blesses us by closing doors that would have hurt us.
Sometimes the blessing is an answered prayer.
Sometimes it is the strength to keep going while we wait.
Sometimes it is provision.
Sometimes it is peace in a situation that has not yet changed.
As September begins, we can place every part of the month into God’s hands — our families, work, finances, health, decisions, relationships and dreams.
We do not know everything that the next few weeks will bring.
But God already does.
Psalm 121:8 reminds us:
“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
So instead of entering September afraid of what might happen, we can enter it trusting the One who goes before us.
Ask God for wisdom before important decisions.
Ask Him for patience when things move slowly.
Ask Him for courage when something difficult appears.
Ask Him to protect your heart from bitterness, anxiety and discouragement.
And above all, ask Him to keep you close to Him.
Because a truly blessed month is not simply a month where everything goes right.
It is a month where, whatever happens, we do not walk through it without God.
Prayer for September
Father,
Thank You for bringing me into another month.
I place September in Your hands.
Guide my decisions, protect my family, provide what I need and give me wisdom for every situation I face.
Open the doors that are good for me and give me peace when You close the ones that are not.
When I am tired, strengthen me.
When I am afraid, remind me that You are near.
When I do not understand what You are doing, help me trust You.
May my home know Your peace, may my heart remain close to You, and may everything I do this month honor You.
Lord, let September be blessed not simply because everything goes according to my plans, but because I walk through every day with You.

Before You Go
Do not begin this month carrying everything alone.
Give September to God one day at a time.
