Daniel Was Faithful to God
Daniel was a man who loved God and tried to do what was right.
He lived in a foreign land and worked for King Darius. Daniel was wise, honest, and trustworthy.
The king respected Daniel so much that he planned to give him an important position over the kingdom.
But some of the other leaders became jealous.
A Plan Against Daniel
The jealous leaders tried to find something Daniel had done wrong.
But Daniel was honest and responsible, so they could not find anything to accuse him of.
Finally, they realized that the only way to trap Daniel was through his faith in God.
They went to King Darius and convinced him to make a new law.
For thirty days, no one could pray to any god or person except the king.
Anyone who disobeyed would be thrown into a den of lions.
Daniel Continued to Pray
Daniel heard about the new law.
He knew what could happen if he continued praying to God.
But Daniel did not stop.
Three times a day, just as he had always done, Daniel went to his room, opened his windows, and prayed to God.
He did not pray because he wanted people to see him.
He prayed because he loved God and trusted Him.
Daniel Is Arrested
The jealous men saw Daniel praying and quickly went to the king.
They reminded King Darius about the new law.
The king realized that he had been tricked.
He cared about Daniel and tried to find a way to save him, but the law could not be changed.
Daniel had to be taken to the lions’ den.
Into the Lions’ Den
Before Daniel was placed in the den, King Darius spoke to him.
The king hoped that the God Daniel faithfully served would rescue him.
Then Daniel was lowered into the den filled with lions.
A large stone was placed over the entrance.
That night, the king could not sleep.
He refused food and entertainment because he was worried about Daniel.
God Protected Daniel
Early the next morning, King Darius hurried to the lions’ den.
He called out to Daniel and asked whether his God had been able to save him.
Then the king heard Daniel’s voice.
Daniel was alive!
God had sent an angel and shut the mouths of the lions.
Daniel had not been harmed because he trusted God.
The King Rejoices
King Darius was filled with joy.
He ordered that Daniel be lifted out of the lions’ den.
When Daniel came out, no wound was found on him.
The king then honored the God of Daniel and declared that He is the living God whose kingdom will never be destroyed.
Daniel Chose Faith Over Fear
Daniel did not know exactly what would happen when he continued praying.
He could have hidden his faith because he was afraid.
Instead, Daniel trusted God and remained faithful.
God was with Daniel even in the darkest and most dangerous place.
What Can We Learn?
Sometimes doing the right thing is not easy.
Other people may disagree with us, laugh at us, or try to make us afraid.
Daniel teaches us that we can continue trusting God even when circumstances are difficult.
God may not always keep us away from every difficult situation, but He promises to remain with us through them.
When fear tells you to give up, remember that God is still with you.
A Simple Prayer
Dear God,
Thank You for the story of Daniel.
Help me to trust You even when I am afraid. Give me courage to do what is right and help me remember that You are always with me.
