When I Had Nothing Left, God Showed Me I Was Not Forgotten
Daniel had always believed that if he worked hard enough, everything would eventually be okay.
For years, he had a steady job, paid his bills on time, and tried to provide a comfortable life for his family.
Then everything changed.
The company where he worked began cutting employees.
One Friday afternoon, Daniel was called into a small office and told that his position no longer existed.
He walked to his car holding a cardboard box with a few personal belongings.
For several minutes, he simply sat behind the steering wheel.
He didn’t know what to tell his family.
When Fear Became Louder Than Faith
At first, Daniel believed he would quickly find another job.
But one week became one month.
One month became three.
The savings account became smaller.
The bills continued arriving.
And every rejection email seemed to repeat the same message:
You are not needed.
Daniel prayed.
But nothing seemed to change.
One night, unable to sleep, he sat alone at the kitchen table.
He opened his Bible without knowing exactly what he was looking for.
His eyes stopped on Isaiah 41:10:
“Do not fear, for I am with you.”
Daniel read it again.
Then again.
Something became clear to him.
God had not promised that Daniel would never face difficult seasons.
God had promised something deeper:
He would not face them alone.
The Answer Hadn’t Come Yet
The next morning, Daniel still didn’t have a job.
The bills were still there.
His situation had not magically disappeared.
But something inside him had changed.
Instead of beginning every morning with fear, Daniel began with prayer.
He started saying:
“God, I don’t know what happens next, but I know You are here.”
Weeks later, an old friend contacted him about an opportunity at a small company.
The salary was not what Daniel had earned before.
The position wasn’t what he had imagined.
But he accepted it.
Months later, that small opportunity became something much bigger.
Looking back, Daniel realized something important.
God had been working long before Daniel could see the result.
What Daniel Learned
Sometimes we believe God’s faithfulness should mean that nothing goes wrong.
But Scripture shows us something different.
Faith does not mean we will never experience uncertainty.
Faith means that uncertainty does not have the final word.
You may not know what tomorrow looks like.
You may be waiting for a door to open.
You may even wonder whether God has forgotten you.
But His silence is not His absence.
The God who walked with you yesterday is still with you today.
Prayer
Father, when fear tells me that I am alone, remind me that You are near. Give me strength while I wait, wisdom for the next step, and faith to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
